1). Sally Mann is the artist of these photos selected and as I was glancing through her work I noticed she mainly makes pictures black and white. She feels as if these photos speak from her past and reveal a message. She tried to create a photo by using some motion to give it more of a mystery and chilling feeling. A ton of her photos come from Virginia where she lives. She first started making pictures of her children who would be half naked and played in dirt to get a sense of reality. She makes pictures with her antique camera from the early 1900's to get that old timey and mystery feel.
2. Like I said her goal is to catch the eyes of her viewers and be curious as to why she did this and that to create a picture like that. She wants the viewers to grow curious and interested in her work. A sense of mystery is something that catches everyones eye and to have a story with it is great.
3. I enjoy viewing Sally Manns photos but they make me feel depressed in a way. With every picture looking sad or poor or intensely scary is something I am curious in but don't want to keep looking at it. The one with the tree gives me goose bumps from like a scary movie.
