Kellen Clarke- Weekly Artist Post

1. Michael's art comes from his personal background. His childhood was different than others because his surroundings. He didn't see things like other people did and that changed everything. The most simple or random objects in sight would become crazy or frightening. He didn't understand why that would happen to him and it was scary.

2. His background led him to create this project by using ice-cream, something fun and youthful. Going back to his childhood, these fun pops and sandwiches provided a different feeling for him and thats what he wants people to see. The fun and appeal to these treats are melted down to show the ugly and grossness behind it all. To create this photos he spent at least an hour melting the deserts over glass.

3. The first thing I saw was the fascinating color blending and designs the food made. I didn't know until looking further into the project that the subject was food. Melting food seems fun for any reason by the back story for Michael was one I have never heard before. It is inspiring to see someone truly know themselves and base their art around or in it.
