Kellen Clarke- Weekly Artist Post

Wolfgang Tillmans

1. Wolfgang Tillmans is a fine art photographer that uses the world around him. This german photographer has used photography to go deeper into the medium and discover what else is there. He is a multiple award winner and an incredible photographer. He has travel around the world and worked with various subjects. Besides working on his own projects, he works an official board and committee member.

2. These photos are from the archive gallery titled, central nervous system. It was located in London from October through November 2013. The pictures follow a man and capture different body parts and natural moments. He chooses to use portraits because of the rawness that occurs. Every flaw and emotion is shown and makes Tillmans go back to the basics. The pictures he makes are from inspiration drawn from basic light and nature.

3. Although this gallery is about a single subject, Tillmans is a photographer who i recently discovered creates work I am trying to do. Tillmans takes the basic science foundations and uses a single person to draw out the different elements of emotion from them. Using a single subject can be difficult but it is more than a picture of a person.
