Lucas Suarez- Weekly Artist Post

Casey Kelbaugh's photographs primarily focus on high ISO levels betwen 100-200, as his images appear to be very sharp. Kelbaugh also displays a good use of aperture, as his depth of field is narrow and subject in the background are not as clear as the ones in front. Kelbaugh's photographs could perhaps also have a shutter speed of between 30-60, good enough for hand holding speed to capture his subjects without much camera shake.

The artist accidently stumbled upon this beach scene while visiting Miami, FL. Kelbaugh who once partook in the ild experience of college spring break, decided to document what he saw. Kelbaugh stated that what he saw was, "topless beer pong tournaments, twerking showdowns, and fistfights, this was the kind of moment in which we are all invited to be voyeurs." In the above photographs, Kelabugh accurately displays the different sightings that can be found all within the same proximity of the beach. Some people enjoying themselves, others relaxing, and those who have no clue what they are doing.

I really enjoy Kelbaugh's direction with his photographs. Often times, we only hear stories of what spring break in Miami is like. Kelabugh does a great job of accurating portraying the scene of the environment. He focuses on subjects coming from far distances to come enjoy the beach. He documents people who drink to much and pass out and miss great opportunities, such as the second photograph above. Lastly, I really enjoyed how Kelbaugh took advantage of the serendipitous timing of being in a great position to witness and photograph an experience that very few people get to witness.
