Brandon Harrell- Weekly Artist Post 9

Gherca is most likely using a digital format for his photographs, although it is not clearly stated whether or not he sued digital or analog. He also used a color format in the majority of his photos, but some in his collection use monochrome, or other color modes. Most, if not all of the pictures that were featured were shot during the day.
Gherca’s subject is capturing the daily lives of those who live in extreme poverty in Bucharest, Romania. In this collection, he focuses on the people and their surroundings, including their homes, to showcase. He also captures their possessions and interactions with nature, such as the people bonding with birds and dogs. He also shows how the residents interact with each other.

I found interest in Gherca’s work, mainly due to the fact that it shows how people around the world deal with poverty. Like many other photographic collections that show extreme poverty, it always makes it known to the viewer that poverty is an extreme issue that occurs worldwide, and most often in the same city that they live in.
