Lauren Reynard~ Weekly Artist Post 9

J.M. Giordano

1. J.M. Giordano is a photojournalist based in Baltimore that shoots anything from portraits to landscapes to documenting events. His style is relatively the same in all photos however each set of photos has its own story and differs from the others. His photographs really caught my attention in the way that he sees the world and what he captures with what he is given.

2. These photos caught my attention because of there addition of color in the otherwise dull image. In the first photo, the use of that yellow hard hat makes the photo complete in the way that your eyes bounce back and forth from the sunlight to the hat then back to the sunlight again. In the second photo this happens again with the bright blue man on the wall of the building. The color pops with the grayness on the right side of the building and forces your eyes to look back and forth. In the third photo you don't really notice it at first but that hint of the bright green machine in the center of the photo brings all of the color elements together. The blue in the sky and the brown on the lower side get all wrapped up by just that small hint of green and its really pleasing to the eye.

3. These photos really caught my attention because of how simple they are. The simple use of objects in a photo can really make or break them; without these pops of color the photos would just be bland and uninteresting. Manipulating the space before the photo is taken is just another tool that the photographer has and it really shows the creativity of the artist.
