Lauren Reynard- weekly artist post 8

Julia Kaczorowska

1. Julia Kaczorowska is a photographer based in Poland. She focuses mostly on photo-reportage, documenting and advertising. In this series she focuses on vitiligo and how it affects people and how it has affected herself when she was younger. She noticed her patches when she was four and they made her self conscious, however as she grew older she decided to turn it into something beautiful with her photography.

2. The photos are shown in simple black and white with models that have vitiligo and are posing to show their white patches. For many of these people their patches make them self conscious and society sees them as different, however Julia takes this particular view and turns it into something beautiful and interesting to look at. Each person in these photos has patches in different places; some have very little like in the first and third pictures and some have alot, like in the second picture. Either way they send a powerful message and show real beauty.

3. I think i chose these pictures because we live in a world where not looking like everyone else makes you different and not in a good way. These photos show that being different can be beautiful and i think it  really shows what a simple picture can do. These photos capture real people and in a world where we photoshop and judge everything it is nice to see something real for a change.
