Parker Austin Weekly Artist Post 9

Bill Owens

1) Bill Owens was an American photographer, most known for his work with the suburbia of post WWII America. Starting with a $10 Lecia with a pinhole he decide to use a Nikon SLR for his work on these photos. Trying to capture scripted moments such as 4th of July, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. For the first photo he did and ariel shot of the court, though i'm not sure how. The other two are from relatively close up. but the bottom is more subjective and they are all in black and white.
2) Saying they were scripted events didn't mean he posed them but he waited for a time where it would have a subject for the photo rather than just taking a photo at a random time. He didn't use his pin hole due it it leaving a white spot but he did fix that with shoe polish. But the main reason is so he could see the subject before taking the picture. All the picture capture the image amazingly, you really feel as if you were there, and i think with color it wouldn't have the same affect.

3) I feel the strangest connection to these pictures in a way that i understand but have trouble explaining. My entire life ive lived in a cul de sac with a house that looks oddly similar oh the inside. I use to ride a big wheel while carrying a fake gun on it all the time so its like im seeing my past in someones gallery of pictures. Also I find it weird because my next door neighbor's last name is Owens.
