Parker Austin weekly artist post 8

Ralph Eugene Meatyard

1) Ralph was an American photographer from Normal, Illinois. He has a mix of landscapes and portraits in his gallery all in black and white. the portraits are usually about 3 feet away from the subject. The landscapes are about 20 yards back and of a building wall rather than an open area. He only uses on camera a Rollieiflex which gave him a 2 1/4 inch negative.
2) His pictures are darker and tend to keep an erie feeling to them. The bottom one seems like this has the balance of the 4 windows and the line on top to cancel out the white walls, but makes the strange black figures at the bottom stand out.
3) This whole collection of pictures is super creepy and i love it. The masks are such a cool twist on things in a way i can't explain. The shadow figures at the bottom are creepy and i cant tell if they were intentional. All in all this is my favorite photographer i've seen.
