Joseph Colon Weekly post 7

1. Forrest Mcmullin uses close up portraits to capture the images of the African American cowboy culture. The images are in black, and white and i think it was a good choice to put them in black and white to show the differences of the cowboy culture, which is normally seen as a "white" culture.

2. Forest's goal for this series was to showcase the "Black Cowboy" through out much of history cowboys have been represented as "white", and the media, mainly movies, and television have forgotten to showcase african american cowboys who had a lot to do with the building, and the expansion of the west. Many African American cowboys were ranchers, and helped build the west. Forrest is just trying to showcase the history of those African American Cowboys, and let their stories be heard.

3. I think this is a very intriguing series simply because when people hear the word cowboy many people think of a white guy in a cowboy hat. The fact that there is a whole culture of African American cowboys who do Rodeos, and ride horses. The media has interpreted as a white culture, but it obviously isnt.
