Nini Norris Weekly Post 6.1

Edward Burtinsky: Water

1.) Edward Burtynsky's concerns are of a global nature and how our we are destroying a large part of our lives. He uses water, the thing that makes up majority of our planet's surface, as an example/focal point.  Not only is he looking at the human effect on our waters but also of the devastating lack of water in places around the world.

2.) Burtynsky's work was very impressive. He uses aerial points of view and managed to capture things in a way that seemed devoid of the human touch. By doing so, he allows the viewer to see it from a global standpoint rather than as a singular person's opinion. The textures he captured were unreal. I still have no idea how some of them were not retouched or painted.

3.) Addressing a global environmental issue would be something a tad bit difficult for me. I would love to do something focusing on the people in these places. Maybe diptychs, where one would be someone with an abundance water/ taking it for granted next to a similar setup of someone with a lack of it.
