Ashanti Neverson - Weekly Artist Post 14

Chris Arnade

1.) These photos come from the photographer's, Chris Arnade, project "Faces of Addiction". He used digital and color photos. The majority of his subjects are centered and their portraits are in landscape. Some photos are using natural lighting and then some seem like he manipulated the light to his advantage.

2.) In the first photo a light is shining through her broken umbrella. I think that was a great decision as to what it can represent to these people he chose to photograph, whether it's hope or some silver lining through the pain. The second photo I think was great again by how he used the water and lighting that created these cool and warm colors around his subject. And in the last photo he used what seemed to be the woman's candles but there is a darkness between her and the candles. He lit her face as she wore black and the candle lights are surrounded by a dark background.

3.) These photos made me think of the way I see people on the streets struggling with addiction. It makes me think of how I have ignored them or not paid much attention to them. These photos make you see people of addiction faces and can see the emotion in their eyes.
