Joey Scolieri - Weekly Artist Post 14

Rich McCor

1. The artist, Rich McCor, carefully locates and plans his photographs. He travels through Europe searching for ideal locations and then he creates simple paper cutouts to pair with the location. Because he is always holding the cutout himself the image is always center focused with the main subject in the center. The focal point of the image is more on the humor and light heartedness of the cutout than with the technical aspects of the photograph.

2. The artist's thematic intent from the series is to show viewers a new and creative way to look at old landmarks and everyday scenes. The photographs are so simple yet extremely creative, I think he could definitely be starting a new trend. I believe his intent is to create a light hearted and new perspective towards these landmarks through the medium of photography. The world is extremely serious right now and these photos provide a much needed dose of humor.

3. I enjoy looking at these photographs and I love that the photographer is trying to bring about a new perspective to old places. I think that this style of photography can be employed by anyone and is a great way to get out and see the city you live in in a new light.
