Marlene Wynn Weekly Blog Post #13

Julia Galdo & Cody Cloud (JUCO Photography)

  1. Artist Technical Choices
      1.  In the first photo I believe they used a more open F Stop as the woman is crystal clear, but the background is softly blurred.  All three photos appear to be taken in a studio under very controlled lighting and situations.
  2.  Artist Conceptual / Thematic Intents
      1. In the first photo, the woman's dark hair and jacket almost make her appear to be a silhouette.  The golden brown tones of her highlighted skin against the reds and yellows of the lights behind her are a lovely contrast.  I especially like that her top lip disappears into the red lights behind it.
      2. With all the various shades of blue, her pink lips just pop off the page.  They are definitely the focal point of this picture.  The velvet of her top catches the light giving it a really great luster.  And, yet again, the warm tones of her skin contrast really nicely with the cool tones of the blues and teals.
      3. I think this is my favorite of the three.  All the many amazing shades of gold...from her tanned skin to the cloth she is on, to her eyelids.  And the gorgeous red of her bathing suit and her lips!  Wow.  What a contrast.  And, all the lines are long and straight, except for her poofy hair and the interesting shape of her collar bone.
  3. My Response to the artist's Intents
    1. I love all the contrasting colors and textures in these pictures.  They really pop off the page.  The last one makes me feel the heat of the summer sun.  These photographers really do a good job at capturing whats in front of them and making it showcase well on the screen.
