Joey Scolieri - Weekly Artist Post 12

Wim Wenders

1. Wim Wenders is a German film maker and photographer. The photos appear to be taken on a tripod and he uses color to help set the mood or tone of the image. The second photograph is taken in black and white to really highlight the lighting throughout the image as well as keep the American flag from taking over the frame. The third photograph is taken in a panoramic style in what seems to be mid day with a long depth of field.

2. Throughout the entire series of photos there is not one person in any of the images. Wenders purposely does this so that the viewer can look at the image and have free range to look anywhere without feeling like they have to look at a certain spot or figure in the image. The series is an homage to the past and each image pays tribute to the people that have come before now.

3. I enjoy viewing Wim Wenders's work because the images give off a peaceful and relaxing vibe to me. The panoramic style photo with the lush greens and vibrant blue really puts my mind at ease. The way Wenders used the black and white image to give his photo that extra dramatical touch really worked in my opinion. The lonely chair pointed towards the giant American flag and the gradient of light throughout the image instantly made the photo one of my favorites.
