Deja Thompson - Weekly Artist Post 14

Ed Van Der Elsken

1. Ed van der Elsken uses black and white. His medium appears to be film. It appears that he is using a large format camera. His subjects are center weighted. All the pictures except the first have deep depth of fields. A f 22 was probably used the middle picture.

2. The first picture could be an example of self love. The girl is sharing kiss with her self in the mirror. It could be she is finally excepting her self in her own eyes. The second is of a busy city with a lot going. There is a lot of people there but no one seems to be noticing any but there selves. All they are concerned about it where they are going. The final picture is of two people. The man seems concerned about what is going on, while the female looks indifferent. Or like she knows what is going on but doesn't want to say anything.

3. It the the photos are well taken. The pictures are well taken. It is need to see effortless photos taken that convey a lot of emotion. Each picture pulls you inside and makes you want to look around to figure out what is happening on the other side of the camera.
