These photos were taken by famous photographer Robert Mapplethorpe. His camera of choice was a Hassleblad 500. The first picture depicts a portrait of Andy Warhol. Mapplethorpe probably took this at a professional photo-shoot. The second photo shows two men, one white, one black and they are standing extremely close. Mapplethorpe probably took this from five feet away using a long lens. The third picture is of singer and actress Deborah Harry. He probably asked her to look serious and stare straight into the lens.

The first photo I believe is just a portrait; however it feels as though Mapplethorpe wanted us to think that Andy has something to tell us but he can't. The second photo of the two men I believe Mapplethorpe was trying to convey how different these men are, but also how very much alike they are. Mapplethorpe was trying to bring out Deborah's intensity and determination trough her position and posture.

The first photo makes me feel like Andy Warhol is a very close friend and that he wants to tell me something but won't because of how shocking it would be. The second photo reminds of yin and yang and brings forth an idea that two elements live in harmony. Although they may oppose each other one can not exist without the other. Mapplethorpe did an excellent job conveying a sense of determination. It makes feel as if this could be a very good inspiration piece for other artists.
