Robert Lamb Weekly Post 8

Nikki S. Lee, is a Korean Photographer and filmmaker. Once she completed college in Korea she came to the United States to obtain her masters. During the time the she was here she created most of her images for her most well-known work “Projects”. For this she would go out and find different and very diverse groups of people, not only would she dress like them but she pretty much became a part of each group. For example with the skateboarding crew she actually had to learn how to skate, and for the stripper project she went through months of intense training to get her body in shape. As for her camera for this project she used a simple point in shoot, and she also allowed for her friends to take the pictures for her.

The three images above are from her “Project” portfolio. Just with this group of work it is clearly evident how dedicated she is to her art. Although seeing that these images were taken by quote-un-quote an unprofessional photographer there is not much to say about them technically. But there is a great sense of story and intention. Something that is explained in a video interview of her is how she initially wanted the images to be captured with the point and click camera, so that it would give a different look that something more advance and be received and interpreted differently as well.
