Weekly Post for Sam Moeller

Sebastian Salgado

Sebastião Salgado was born on February 8th, 1944 in Aimorés, in the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil. He has travelled in over 100 countries for his photographic projects. His inspiration for the collection of photographs comes from wanting to preserve the world as it was in the beginning. He has dedicated his life and work, along with his wife in accomplishing this. By traveling to the most remote areas of the world he is able to capture images of civilizations that most people don't believe still exist. The use of black and white to depict such a subject enhances the viewer's experience. I particularly enjoyed seeing the traditional garments and culture norms of societies that I have no association with. I just find them fascinating.
