Olivia Smith Weekly Post #11

Nick Ut was originally a photographer for the American Press (AP) since he was 16. Because of that job, he started traveling to different places like South Korea, Hanoi, and Tokyo. When he was in Vietnam, he took many pictures during the war. He is well known for his image "The Terror of War" which was an image of a naked girl running towards him, away from a napalm bombing. This image later went on to win the 1973 Pultizer Prize for Sport News Photography. Since then many of his photographs have been displayed in many magazines like New York Times Magazine.

I find his artwork very interesting. He has traveled to many third world countries and was lucky enough to capture life there. For me, looking at his images is a huge culture shock. The image of "The Terror of War" really interests me. The fact that he was there during the war is scary and everything he saw, he photographed. He must have had a lot of talent to travel there and photograph such scary situations and not run and hid. I really respect him as an photographer.
