Ai Weiwei is considered a contemporary artist. He was not only a photographer, but he also created a lot of 3D design pieces too. He used many materials like wood, metal, ceramics, and clay to create different pieces. His sense of style was modern and artistic, but his photography was a different story. His photography revealed his reckless and rebellious side. Weiwei is well known for his many images of traveling to different places that reveal power and posing his hand in the frame to flick off the subject. This is what everyone knows him as.
I find his work very interesting. He makes artwork that is appealing to him , not what the thought would become popular and would sell. Parts of his work is very modern and artistic, while other pieces are very straight and down to the point. I enjoy his photographs because they really make me think about what point he is trying to convey and it also make me consider what his sense of style is.
