For 25 years, Phil has been living with and taking photos of indigenous and tribal cultures around the world. He has several books, exhibits and has hosted 3 documentaries for National Geographic and Discovery. Phil seeks to create a relationship between the viewer and the subject, as such each picture has an accompanying story of his time with them and pieces of their lives that he has learned.
Phil takes under-saturated, almost black and white photos with emphasis put on the subject by focusing solely on them. The blurred and far off background provides a contrast to the sharp foreground that is lacking in the faded colors.
