In Ricky Adams' has a white background. The picture is more about color contrast than light because there is hardly any shade in that picture. It is really a portrait with two pictures in the same picture. It is your basic studio portrait. The left side however did have a tattoo on his neck. This really changes the perception of the photograph.
The sporting landscape features brilliant color contrast with a mixture of blues, browns, silvers and greens. This image would not have been as interesting if it were with the bmx bicyclists was not in that picture. The overpass structure adds to the look of the sport of bmx bicycling. I appreciate the view that Ricky Adams has chosen. Choosing a high vantage point for a sporting image with a wide angle view added more interest to the image.
