Blake Little is a portrait photographer who works out of LA, California. He's shot many celebrity portraits such as the Rock, Jack Black, and Samuel Jackson. In this series Little makes uses of soft bright lighting to capture the reflection of substance on his victims- I mean subjects. In the last picture you can tell he is also using a high shutter speed to capture the liquid falling off the peoples body.
In this series Blake little covers his subjects in buckets of honey. In an article on the series he said his goal was to make people look as though they were encased in amber. His reasoning behind this was to bring focus on the shape of the body as opposed to more distinct features and characteristics. Its interesting how this really changes the dynamic of the portrait overall.
I think portraits are best done with an epic approach. A wide angle lens with the subject up close and their domain in back ground. I think this adds so much more to someone and their story. Although its not evident in this series. Blake Little uses this technique in other portraits on his website.
