In these photos Glen Erier explores exposure to depict how light effects familiar places. These low light high contrast situation would probably be a bi product of a high ISO coupled with a wide open aperture and a decently low shutter speed based on our standard "hand holding speed" determined in class. The light in these situations seems to be very limited and in order to catch it I think Erier probably didnt mind giving up some depth of field to illustrate light.
These photographs intend to reinvent spaces that are familiar to Mr. Erier. I use the term reinvent because he's illustrating these rooms in a way that him and his whole family have probably seen before, however these pictures suggest that him and his family should value these views as if they were a beach house vista. These pictures are gradual in the theme of light and color, the middle picture as the most explicit and the last as the most "subtle". These pictures force us to take another look at the views provided by the spaces we inhabit.
Im in love with the way Mr. Erier has depicted light and color in his photos. His work is what I was modeling my work after, even before I saw these photos. The concept of appreciating the way the light hits the wall, or shines through old trees in the backyard is one that I try to explore with my photos. the colors are also brilliantly vibrant but soft at the same time.
