Tina Modotti was an excellent photographer of her time. She was born in 1896 and died in 1942. She was an Italian model, actress, a political activist as well as a photographer.
Ms. Modotti's mainly took photos in black and white. Much of her photography consisted of geometrical shapes, abstract compositions, different textures, shadows, and light.  Later in her work, she became interested in flowers, where she also captured beautiful details and lighting.
I love Ms. Modotti’s work because it reminds me of very rustic yet beautiful artwork.  Her work is flawless without color. She captures the mood with her awesome lighting.  Her artwork seems to tell a story. Perhaps the hat and hammer maybe symbolizing strength and hard work in her life, but still beautiful through her use of flowers.  If there is one thing that I would take from her artwork, it would be the rugged yet eloquent beautiful artwork that she has shared with the world.
