Amanda Mustard is a self made photo journalist. She is from a small Christmas tree farm in Pennsylvania. She got up and moved her life to Cairo and has lived there for the past three years putting herself in a position to photograph some of the most unstable areas in our world. She has not only captured these parts of Cairo but also stays busy photographing life there. What life looks like coexisting with the civil unrest that is happening all around.
I adore her courage to pick up and move to a place that is familiar with pain and destruction. She is willing to put a picture with the pain and show it to the world. I love how her pictures are as natural as they can get and how the weight of the photos literally grabs the viewer. I really appreciate that she goes the extra mile to capture people where they are, that she is not afraid to capture something so horrible, or beautiful.
