Irving Penn is an Amerian photograper
known for his fashion photography, portraits and
still
life photos. Mr. Penn
originally intended to become a painter; however, a photography opportunity
arose for him with Vogue magazine in the 1940’s. He was
among the first photographers to pose subjects against a simple grey or white
backdrop. This simplicity effective made
him well known for his work.
Mr. Penn created his first cover
photo, which is the first image. The second image is a close-up portrait of an
African American female, and the third is a portrait of a lady sitting. I love
his use of the simple black and white photography. His work provides a deep contract along with
a clean and crisp look. I also like how he uses natural light. I would love to use black and white colors in my photography as it is such a stunning piece of art.
