Holly Walsh- Weekly Post #3

Ming Thein

Ming Thein creates his photography with a focus on how the viewer's emotions will be affected by his pictures. He claims to take inspiration from classic photojournalism, abstract art, motion picture and film. He writes in his bio "Natural color and dynamic lighting create a strong positive emotion in the viewer, which in turn makes the subject of the photograph – your product or service – memorable." He makes sure to make the experience his viewers will have with his photography just as important and the image itself. Much of Thein's recent work is commercial work for many international companies. His desire to make his work memorable for his clients by using his unique style of evoking emotion has made him commercially successful.

Thein's photography is as visually pleasing as it is emotionally. His work shows his mastery of line, lighting, space, hue, harmony. I enjoy his desire to create emotion through his photography in a very subtle way. He creates pictures that are visually pleasing without being boring and emotionally fulfilling without being over the top. One word that I think can truly sum up Thein's work is- balanced. When you view his photography you do not have to question what you are suppose to feel, his work says it all very clearly.
