Christian Patterson was born in Fond Du Lac, Wisconsin in 1972. He is self-taught and while his work is mostly photographs, they are sometimes accompanied by drawings and paintings. Patterson has won a few awards for his series Redheaded Peckerwood.
This series is inspired loosely on the 1950s killing spree that took place in Nebraska and Wyoming. the two-month spree committed by Caril Ann Fugate and Charles Strakweather had a lasting impression and the effects can be seen in the destruction and violence shown in the pictures and accompanying documents.
