Doug Rickard (1958 - ) is an San Jose, California native who studied United States history and sociology at UC San Diego, before focusing on photography. He is the founder of American Suburb X and These Americans, websites that contain essays on contemporary photography and historical photographic archives. His series Sticky Floors and White Men Roars, captured my attention due to the narrative content of the photographs. The execution in black and white also draws the viewer to observe the other elements of each image, such as composition, value, contrast etc.
