Skylar Coleman - Weekly Artist

Camus Wyatt

  1.  I am not sure what kind of camera was used but in the three photographs I selected from photographer Camus Wyatt, you can see his preferred choice of black and white over color. He uses unique angles and depth to capture movement within his photographs. The lighting in each photo helps with emotion and allows the eye to wander the scene in its entirety.
  2. These photographs are from Camus Wyatt's series called A Seaside City taken in Wellington, New Zealand from 2009-2013. He captures various images involving water by itself and people enjoying its closeness to the seaside. Camus Wyatt's primary interest is in observation which he defines as "a personal examination and presentation of the human experience". He is also driven by "an inordinate level of curiosity".
  3. What captured my eye when looking over this artist's work was the simplicity it portrayed when showing nature, people, and animals and their natural surroundings. His use of black and white and exposure to light really helped these photographs stand out and created a more emotional connection. I thoroughly enjoyed viewing all of his series but this particularly series caught my eye the most because I am a big fan of the ocean and the serenity and mystery behind it.
