1.)  Helen Levitt was an artist who dropped out of high school to pursue Photography. She is self taught, and mainly focused on people in New York and children. She used a Leica camera that she attached a device called a winkelsucher to, that allowed her to use her camera sideways. It is said that some of her subjects didn't know they were her subjects because of this. She experimented with color film, though she always seemed to revert back to black and white.

2.) Levitt loved taking photos of people in New york. She was also very big on taking photos of children, and while she taught art to children, she fell in love with taking photos of the children's sidewalk art too.  Levitt also took a shine to documenting the Lower East side and the underprivileged people who lived there. Her black and white photos of the Lower East side have been called poetic and beautiful because of the way she seemed to put a little bit of hope into them.

3.) I chose Helen Levitt because I like photos of people doing daily day to day things. I think Levitt had a good eye for detail, and interesting people. She really photographed everything in such a way that you can feel so much emotions looking at her photos. I think Levitt was a very skilled photographer, and she has made some major break-through's in the photography world.
