Calah Jones Artist Post 14

1.     New York Times Fashion and street style photographer, Bill Cunningham, used a Nikon DSLR 35mm f/1.8. For film, Bill shot a Nikon 5M2, a classic manual focus camera.  In his FM2 he loaded a 400-speed Fuji color-negative film with a 35mm prime.
2.     Cunningham’s photography focused mainly on fashion and street style.  He made pictures of people, sometimes of famous celebrities, walking across the street or waiting on buses, or just fashion.  In his street style photography, Cunningham captures every day moments and modernizes them accordingly to the time and era.  That crossed over with fashion. He captured America’s ever-changing style from stylish, flamboyant, or just plain sensible.  He rode around on a bike making these pictures.
3.     I like Bill Cunningham’s style and how he took his pictures traveling the streets of New York.  I also like how his approach in photography was different than the other photographers I’ve wrote about.  He was a fashion photographer, so to me, it was more interesting.  Fashion changes over time and all the time, so seeing his pictures and how people’s style has changed over the years is very interesting to me.  I also like how Cunningham did have picture-perfect portraits.  They we were free and open.  They didn’t have to be perfectly framed or showing ample amount of color. They focused on the style itself and that’s what captured my eye.
