Grant Layne - Artist Post 13

Kacper Kowalski

In Kowalski's project, Side Effects, he photographed landscapes in the winter time.  It seems most of his pictures for this project are horizontal. Almost all of his pictures shows some of interaction between human and nature.
In Side Effects, Kowalski examined the conflict between human and the wilderness.  In the pictures he made, it seems that the wilderness is dominating mankind.  This also foreshadows the fate of mankind which is death.  The winter theme also supports this intention since winter symbolizes death.
I like what Kowalski's done with Side Effects. He takes pictures of places where humans have never lived and where few humans interact with nature.  This is not something people get to see everyday.  I commend him for his effort in making these pictures.
