Ashanti Neverson - Weekly Artist Post 4

Nadia Shira Cohen and Paulo Siqueira

1.) The photographers seemed to use some type of DSLR camera and took the pictures in color. Their subjects are centered making viewers focus on the people. The lighting seems natural in all of these pictures. The second picture utilized the light shining through the blinds of a window. The colors are complimentary with the subjects standing out.

2.) I believe the photographers wanted to capture the feelings of these displaced people. The first two subjects we can clearly see some type of discomfort and longing for something better than what they have. In the third we see the subject making the best of her situation and with her being a child we see this type of innocence in not worrying about what she doesn't have.

3.) In the first photo I believe the boy is a teenager and that point you can feel like no one understands you. In the photo he is by himself in the middle of the pool showing the isolation. It can also be a representation of the path he has to take in order to get out of his situation. I feel it's showing he has come a long way and has to forget where he came from so he can move on and put himself in a better situation.
