Weekly Post # 6 Karissa Gilbertson, Sahara Borja for Sept 21st

The name of these pictures is called "Post Script"  created by Rachel Boillot.  Boillot Created these photos to show the disappearance of the post office in the United States, mainly focusing on parts of the south United States.  The postal service is something that has been around for over 200 plus years and Boillot makes the impression that she wanted to show impact on what has happened to the postal institution due to the digitization of the world.

Boillot's colored photos show the world of the post office and what it has been reduced to.  The first photo is of a old post office in Ferrell Mississippi that as been abandoned.  The Boillot noted that the budget cuts for the post office has also been rampant over the recent years, especially in small towns.  The second photo is of a lonely letter that has no mail box.  The significance of something that has been in our meager tradition disappearing like cursive is sad.  The third is of a very nicely painted mail box of a personal owner.  This is showing that people take pride in their traditions.

I think Boillot's pictures come across with their significance.   Something that is as time honored as the post office isn't really being honored or thought of.  The buildings are in shambles and the people who can't afford the luxuries of the fast moving digital world suffer.  Boillot's thoughtful placement of the focal points in her pictures tend to move me in a way that makes me more thoughtful of the people who work at the post office and will the post office be there in 20 years? 10 years? 5 years?  I hope others see her photos and find meaning in her work for our time honored traditions in America.
