Brianna Ivey- What I care about(Summary)
In class yesterday, we were asked to write down what we care about and I listed things such as God, my family, friends, dog, goals and traveling. When asked to deduced down it all came down to God and family and how they love me in spite of the mistakes and failures I made they still love me unconditionally and no matter what wrong or right things I have done or may do in the future they will still be with me and I love them for that.
Kailyn Dickason-summary of what I care about
In class yesterday I wrote about how I care about my family, my boyfriend, my goals, my happiness and my job and traveling. When asked to deduce it all, I came to the conclusion that in the end I cared most about the future, because everything came down to the fact that I wanted everything I cared about in my future, and I wanted all of that secured in my future. From this I concluded that it's all about being secure for me.

Jennifer Maddox - summary of what I care about
Today in class we were asked to write what we cared about. At first I started with the obvious things such as family, friends, love, nature, animals, and health of my loved ones. However, I then started to ponder about the future and how I care and fear the future, the unknown. I care about what will happen to me and my family, what I can do to help them. Also, I care about if in the future I will find love and happiness. Then on a deeper level I care about my family, love and happiness. I care about my family because I know they are always there for me, they accept me and the choices I make. They are the ones I can completely be myself around and not care if I'm being a bitch or acting a little crazy. I care about love and happiness for some of the same reasons, to find someone I can love and be loved by. Someone who i can trust if I turn around, someone who will give me the love I imagine. The reason I care about love and happiness is because I fear I will never obtain the love I desire. I care about finding someone who is willing to break down my walls without me having to break them. I fear I will not be able to find this type of love I have with my family.

Alec Soth
1) Alec Soth uses a large format 8x10 camera which allows for greater detail and fidelity. Unlike a small format digital camera, an image can be enlarged to 50x60" without losing detail in the smallest elements. He also seems to be aware of color contrasts and how those contrasts might evoke a certain interest in his viewer.
2) In his series, NIAGRA, Soth appears to question our American mythology pertaining to romantic love. While the myths portray lifelong spouses as a perfect model of sexual lust and obedience, Soth seems to suggest that love is a partnership, difficult work, filled with difficulty and joy alike.
3) I appreciate Soth's take on the improper romantic ideals espoused by American media and its mythos. Personally, it gives me a small solace that others recognize the difficulties of romance as opposed to simply espousing the unattainable ideals.

Shannon Olson Weekly Post
G. Brad Lewis is an internationally recognized nature photographer who, among many other subjects, specializes in capturing active volcanoes on camera. His work has been featured on virtually every form of media imaginable, from exhibitions and documentaries, to calendars and CD covers. Born in Utah, Lewis has had an appreciation for his natural surroundings since boyhood. His desire to photograph volcanoes blossomed in 1982 on a visit to Mount Kilauea, Hawaii. He is currently based at Park City, Utah, visiting and photographing in Alaska during the summer and Hawaii during the spring.
Lewis pictures succeed in evoking the chaotic, powerful nature of the ground beneath our feet - something taken for granted by those who don't frequently experience it firsthand. The clarity of his pictures makes it feel as if the viewer is standing right in the middle of an environment regularly regarded as hostile and toxic and his introduction of vivid, unusual colors typically at odds with the usual earth tones and occasional bright orange, give his photos an almost ethereal feel.
