Marianna Jamadi

Marianna Jamadi demonstrates a great understanding of color and light contrast. She takes advantage of the time of day in order to make these contrasts stand out even more. For example, the second picture would not have been as captivating if it was taken at a different time. The sky has contrasting colors of purple and yellow and a bit of red that contrasts with the grass below. Additionally, the shadows on the ground contrast with the light in the sky. This combination makes Marianna's photographs appear dreamlike and help show the beauty of the desert.

Marianna, who is a nomadic photographer, wanted to show the beauty of the desert and its people. She stayed with different families and documented their lives. Marianna photographed the desert nomads while they were working with their herds. Ultimately, I believe that Marianna wanted to emphasize the connection that the desert nomads have with the land.

The photographs of the landscapes that Marianna was able to create display the wonder and vastness of the Gobi Desert. I appreciate the glimpse of the desert nomads's lives that Marianna provided. I can see that they are hard working people who are connected to the land. This connection that Marianna was able to convey is what makes these photos so intriguing.
