Ryan Jennings - Weekly Artist Post (landscape/portrait)

Susan Worsham

Landscape - It looks like this photo was taken during the morning while the sun was coming up.  It looks peaceful and with the sunlight it casts some good shadows on the the road and house through the scene.  What I particularly like is the use of color.  In a lot of her landscapes there are very dull colors and then a pop of color that just enhances the piece.  In this case the browns and greens run together and then you have a touch of red in the taillights and it ties it together with the red in the background on the house.

Portrait - In this photo it is another photo of hers that have very soft tones and then a touch of color that completes it.  She uses these soft colors and then throws in blue to focus on the subject and draw your eyes to the middle.  The light is used well and with the strategically places items in the photo, they cast shadows that bring out and show us contrast.
