Cynthia Bowles- Landscape and Portrait artist post

Portrait- I like the way he chose to position her. The lighting from the window balances well with the darkness that is on the inside. I like that her posture is not straight. It makes the photo and her body language seem more relaxed and natural. He chose to include the the objects that are outside that house. By doing so, I think he created more contrast because they are not completely over exposed by the sun. It also forces the eye to follow the grays from the left to the right of the image.
Landscape- This photo looks like it was definitely taken during the winter. He took the time to look for the fallen tree in the middle of the woods. The angle he chose ties the image together. I think he wanted to capture the contrast of the roots of the fallen tree and the iced stream. By doing that, he also created a contrasted pattern within the background of the trees.
