Cory Hogan - Artist Post #5

Malte Brandenburg

1.) For this project, Malte decided to crop all of the photos into squares. He also had similar alignments for all of the photos. Each and everyone of the photos in this piece are all a bit bright and contain duller colors.

2.) Brandenburg lives in Berlin and for this series, titled Stacked, he wanted to incorporate the tall post war housing estates that are in Berlin. Brandenburg stated that a lot of people look poorly towards these buildings so he wanted to shed new light on it. These pictures also bring him a sense of nostalgia since they are a big part of Berlin.

3.) I think Brandenburg did a great job at making these old concrete skyscrapers look new and fresh. I love the tones that are in the series and how well they react to the pastel blue skies. I also like that he managed to make beautiful pictures out of buildings that a lot of the people of Berlin don't find very beautiful.
