Sarah Ipson-- Artist Post 2

Garry Winogrand
1. Garry Winogrand did an entire series of black and white photos of street photography of women living their every day lives. These photos were generally taken from any angle that was appealing to both the form of the women and the viewers eyes. Whatever angle made the photo appear the best or most comfortable, that was the angle the photo was taken at.

2. Garry Winogrand's intent was to showcase the beauty that is women. He wanted to depict women in their every day lives. Whether it was just someone walking on the street, riding a bike, sitting on a bench, or laughing out of control, he wanted to show that just passing them by on the street and snapping a photo is beautiful.

3. This gives me a relaxed feeling when I look at these photos. The city streets don't appear too busy, people actually look happy and not always in a hurry, it just seems like things were a lot different back then. It kind of makes me wish that we had the same sense of style that these women had in the 1960's and 1970's also.
