Meaghan Mozingo - Artist post 4

Dmitry Lookianov

1) Dmitry Lookianvo is a young Russian photographer. in his collection titled Instant Tomorrow photographs the suburbs of Moscow, focusing on it's high rise buildings and the surroundings.  His collection contains photographs with the main color being white. Creating a sterile look.

2) Dmitry Lookianvo, did a great job with this collection. He wanted to capture the lack of creativity that capsulated the outskirts of Moscow. Lookianvo explains, that the high-rise buildings lack big ideas instead they are constructed for maximum utility. The primary white photographs resemble a sterile environment and sparks a sense of emptiness.

3) His photos have a sense of vacancy. The first photo is stunning. The snow covered trees which blur towards the skyline are very serine. The three high rise building in the background are symmetrical and have the same linear appearance. There is a blur or fog over the buildings, muting them slightly. Almost as if the buildings are fading. The light and faint blue blue/grey color within the photo adds a slight amount of contrast to the stark white photo.
The second photo is also captivating in it's own way. The overcast sky is the backdrop for the mundane. The snow blankets the empty street surrounded by uniform off white buildings. The christmas tree in the center lacks the usual hustle and bustle around it. This area around the tree is barren. There is no one on the street. No one enjoying the Christmas tree.  The pink trees with blue base adds a slight pop of color to the photograph.
The third photo continues the sterile atmosphere because the majority of the composition is a combination of off white and light greys. The positioning of the couple create a gab between them emotionally. There are both focused within themselves and lost in their own world. At this moment there is no connection. This goes along with Lookianvo's concept that people are voluntary prisoners in this antiseptic paradise. As always in Lookianvo's work, the slight pop of color adds to the photograph.
