Cory Hogan - Artist Post #6

Mirko Saviane

1.) For this piece Saviane focused heavily on color and shadows. These pictures were taken at the island of Burano which is only a few hours away from where Saviane lives. He also stated that he avoids tourists and tries to only make pictures of the locals.

2.) Saviane stated that he would find a nicely colored house and he would wait until only one figure rushes by. Although the colors in these photos are wonderful Saviane says that sometimes it isn't all about color and that composition is even more important. His aim was to make beautiful pictures by showing off the wonderful lives of the locals.

3.) I love these pictures for not only their great compositions but the colors in them. Every house has an interesting tone and the shadows create countless different shades and values throughout the photographs. On top of that, I love how mysterious each figure is in the photos because there aren't any distinguishable faces and they almost seem to be in a rush.
