SHANE AMBROSE weekly artist post

In these photographs, Sharon Lee Hart has chosen to use a black and white color palette providing a great amount of contrast within the images.  The photos also appear to be very high quality suggesting that Hart has used a low ISO when shooting.  The backgrounds of these images are also very blurred compared to the focus of the animal, suggesting that she used a very small aperture to narrow the depth of field.

Sharon Lee Hart took these pictures of rescued farm animals to display the strength and courage they have maintained even through the hardships of slaughterhouses, cockfighting rings, etc.  She uses the black and white filter to help "reaffirm the dignity and decency inherent within each (animal)."

I think that Hart has done a very nice job with these portraits as far as the overall quality and composition.  I think that the shallow depth of field does wonders for the pictures especially since they are portrait photographs.  The black and white also does a very good job of portraying the aptitude of each animal.
