Shane Ambrose- Weekly Artist Post #4

In these photos, photographer Neil Dacosta chose to keep it very simple in his compositions using a neutral grey background to emphasize the white/black uniforms of the models.  With the exception of the last photo, each position of the models captured is designed to display a sense of motion, which can most likely be attributed to a very quick shutter speed.

These photos have been made to 'satirize' the beliefs of the Mormon religion that many have found to be amoral and unjust.  These compositions are meant to highlight and respond to the religion's opposition to homosexuality as well as premarital sex, using the stereotypical Mormon uniforms on the models while they engage what appears to be sexual acts.

I think these photos do an awesome job of bringing a very controversial topic up for discussion in a humorous, satirical manner.  This is the type of idea that waivers on a razor-thin line between crude and insensitive, and lighthearted and funny.  I think they did a brilliant job of keeping it very clean, classy, and funny.
