Callie Ward artist post #11

1. Michael Kenna first got into photography by visiting Japan. When visiting Japan, he felt the need to make pictures with no stop. He describes his pictures in a short poem form because they tell a story. He makes all of his pictures in black and white. He also enjoys taking pictures at dawn and sun down/up to capture great lighting.
2. Michael works well in black and white. You can see depth and a cool glow around some of the things he wants to show. I enjoy his last photo of the shooting star because they are pretty hard to make since they are fast and you have to have the right lighting. He shows perspective with each photo to give his photos something besides a main focus.
3. I think michael works well with black and white and landscapes but I do wish he would step out of his boundaries and maybe shoot photos of humans or animals. He has a great sense of lighting techniques that he could really push his photos to be much more exciting. I did enjoy looking through all his photos cause they make you wonder and want to look through them all.
