Grant Layne - Artist Post 9

Kenta Cobayashi

A lot of Kenta's pictures are playful, layered, and distinctly distorted.  He has a fascination with what he calls glitch, or distorting the fabric and pattern of digital image making.  Many of the pictures he made are shot vertically.  Also, a lot of his pictures are pictures are captured with a slow shutter speed to help capture the distortion effect.
For most of Kenta's photos, he drew his inspiration from the 1960's.  During this time LSD was really popular so he pushed for LSD induced photos for ways of reading consciousness.  Kenta's goal was also to connected the material world we know and the digital world.
Kenta succeeded created a hallucinogen affect in his photos.  I think it's interesting that he found his inspiration from LSD.  It is obvious in his pictures but I think it is still interesting.  It can give a sober viewer an idea for what it is like to see the world from a different distorted perspective.
