Nikkia Logan Artist post #10

Gustavo Minas

In these images, Gustavo Minas fulfills his urge to be around large amounts of people. In the article, Minas felt as though some parts of the city were solitary with a lack of human life. He put himself right in the middle of a major busy station in Brazil. He uses some overexposure and deliberate choices of lighting to enhance the every day norm of travel.

The same way tourists from other parts of the United States get excited from Times Square in New York City is what Minas experiences when in this station. Sometimes people have this urge to be in the mix or be where the popular thing is. People may get anxieties from feeling alone or not having a fun enough life. Gustavo Minas is just expressing his joy in the average day hustle and bustle of the station. There is some color but not an overwhelming amount, which play a role in the artist's attitude in the image. The viewer may feel alive and excited wondering where every individual person might be going.

The pictures make me feel something because each individual inside rather looking at the camera or in the background has a place to feel like they belong somewhere. Traveling gives an opportunity to have new experiences and meet new people. Minas creates a sense of wonder in the lives of others that pass us by.
